Neil Donaldson elected President of TTF. Mark Plews elected Treasurer.

Neil Donaldson, Chairman of Scottish timber company James Donaldson & Sons Ltd, was this week elected President of the Timber Trade Federation at the organisation’s London AGM.

Donaldson, 50, is currently head of the Scottish Timber Trade Association as well as holding a number of Board positions including the Centre for Timber Engineering at Napier University in Edinburgh.

Following his election, Donaldson said:

‘I am delighted and honoured to be taking on this role at such an important time for the Federation and look forward to working with the Directors of the Federation and the staff at Clareville House. The opportunities for wood have arguably never been greater. With a strong TTF leading the industry we will be able to deliver better member services and more effective lobbying to ensure we grow the use of wood and wood products.’

He added:

‘I would like to pay tribute to the excellent work of my predecessor John Tong who committed an extraordinary amount of time to the Federation both as President and Vice-President. He without doubt transformed the Federation into a body that is every day growing in influence and effectiveness.’

The Wednesday meeting also elected Mark Plews as Treasurer. Plews, 43, is Chairman and Managing Director of UCM Timber plc and replaces Charles Sherborne of Sydenhams who has stepped down after 5 years in the role.
